After 13 years in the music business, LeAnn Rimes has matured into an international superstar on the basis of great songs.  But perhaps no song she's recorded has quite matched this single, which radio promptly ignored earlier this year.

Emotional songs about relationships and life are the lifeblood of country music and with this song, Randy Houser was able to make a smashing debut on the charts.  The song broke through enough to make it one of 2008's best Country singles released.

One of country music's most consistent music makers since 1999, Brad Paisley has recently earned a reputation for writing and recording humorous songs like "Ticks." Lost in the sillyness is the fact that he can sing a serious tune too, like this song here.

With this single, the former Trick Pony frontwoman managed to successfully start-up her solo career.  The song was a perfect choice for her as it showed off her whiskey-soaked vocals and interpretation ability. Call it a smashing success.

Carrie Underwood has certainly had a charmed career so far with over 10 million albums sold and seven consecutive #1 singles so far in career.  With that kind of track record, it should come as no surprise that she lands a song on our year-end 'Best Singles' list.

Using a mixture of humor and heartfelt balladry, Blake Shelton has managed to rise from a humble beginning to life in Ada, Oklahoma to become one of Country music's brightest male vocalists. He's in rare form here with our 13th favorite single of this year.

Sugarland has become a superstar act in barely three years time and because of that, there are some detractors but the editorial team at Roughstock certainly are behind the band as we've selected this song as the duo's 2nd entrant onto our year-end best of 2008 list.
