Top 40 Singles of 2008: Blake Shelton - "Home" (# 13)

Using a mixture of humor and heartfelt balladry, Blake Shelton has managed to rise from a humble beginning to life in Ada, Oklahoma to become one of Country music's brightest male vocalists. He's in rare form here with our 13th favorite single of this year.

Using a mixture of humor and heartfelt balladry, Blake Shelton has managed to rise from a humble beginning to life in Ada, Oklahoma to become one of Country music's brightest male vocalists. He's done so by mixing passionate love songs like "Austin" and love-lost songs like "Goodbye Time" with fun tracks like "Ol' Red" and "Some Beach."  Always willing to record a great song, Shelton recorded a passionate remake of the modern pop classic "Home."

Not only did he remake the song but Shelton came through with flying colors on a song that was a bit of a departure from his standard fare. While he covered Canadian artist Michael Buble’s hit, Blake definitely added his own flare, complete with some of his trademark Oklahoma twang. The track was so successful for Shelton that he actually re-released his “Pure BS” album with a deluxe edition that included “Home” and two other songs. Hopefully, Shelton’s recording of the Buble song will start a trend of country artists putting their own spin on good pop songs like this.
