Blake Shelton To Host "Saturday Night Live"

Blake Shelton becomes the 40th musical act to also host the Award-winning comedy program.

Known for his acerbic wit and ability to connect with audiences in the heartland, CMA Award-winning artist and The Voice coach Blake Shelton is set to host AND perform the January 24, 2014 edition of the iconic comedy program Saturday Night Live.

Shelton joins Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift and Dolly Parton as the only country artists to pull both duties. Pop stars to take on the gig include Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Elton John, and The Voice buddy Adam Levine.

Shelton’s year includes helping country crooner Craig Wayne Boyd win The Voice, giving Shelton four winners including Danielle Bradbury, Cassadee Pope and R&B singer Jermaine Paul. Shelton’s proteges The Swon Brothers and RaeLynn both have scored success recently in country music, giving his teams more success than any other coach’s teams. Gwen Sebastian, another Shelton protege serves as a member of Shelton’s band and scored a #1 hit as a featured guest on the Gold-certified hit “My Eyes.” Shelton’s recent hit, “Lonely Tonight” features Ashley Monroe and is featured on the 2014 album Bringing Back The Sunshine.
