Recorded as a tribute to Glen Campbell, Restless Heart’s take on “Wichita Lineman” is simply sublime. performed straight-up, the band takes on the hit straight up with a elegant wall-of-sound approach backing up Larry Stewart’s strong lead vocal. The Restless Heart harmonies are present throughout the track but especially in the refrain near the end of the song and it adds something new to a strong reading on the Jimmy Webb-penned classic.
It’d be great if radio would spin this song as I’m sure fans would find it resonating with them now just as it did back in the 1960s when the song was a hit for Campbell. This also reminds me why I have always really enjoyed Restless Heart. The vocals, the songs, the musicianship.
