Lauren Alaina Pens Personal "Same Day, Different Bottle," A New Tune About Her Father's Battle With the Bottle

Lauren Alaina recently debuted a highly-personal new song at the CMT Women of Country Gala and with it, showcases a new maturity to her music as she goes about crafting the songs on her upcoming sophomore album for 19/Interscope/Mercury Nashville. Get the complete details about the song here!

Over the last few years, Lauren Alaina has grown up in America's eyes and has learned much about herself as a singer, songwriter and woman during that time. She tells Radio.com that her new album will reflect the growth and maturity since her debut record hit shelves.

“I’ve learned so much about myself and my music from sitting in those rooms and creating different sounds,” she says. “I write about what’s on my mind. It’s like a stress reliever. I didn’t realize when I first started writing how much it would set me free from certain situations in my life. It’s incredible.”

One song in particular -- "Same Day, Different Bottle" -- will give listeners a personal look into her father's battle with alcoholism. (WATCH THE VIDEO HERE)

“The song is about my father,” explains Alaina. “He actually got out of rehab today! I haven’t gotten to see him yet, because he’s back in Chattanooga, where I’m from. That song was like therapy for me. It’s not easy growing up in a household with something like that. I love my dad — he’s one of my favorite people in the world — and he’s a great person. He just struggled with alcohol, and he’s overcoming it right now, so I’m really proud of him.”

When Alaina played her father the song, it moved him just as much as it moved her to write it.

“I think it was good for him to hear my side and to see how it affected me,” she says. “Today is a new beginning for him. It’s gonna be a battle for the rest of his life, but I’m going to be right there with him, and pray that every day he doesn’t want to drink it up and touch a bottle. I hope it’s no longer the same day, different bottle. Different day, no bottle!

"It’s a lot harder to write a song like that than it is to write a happy one, I can tell you that right now,” she adds.

Look for Alaina to release new music sometime in the new year.
