CMA Announces 2nd Round of CMA Awards performers

The CMA announced their latest round of performers for the 43rd edition of the Country Music Assoication Awards.  Tim McGraw and Vince Gill were announced along with six other acts, including rock band Daughtry.  Should a rock band be allowed on a country show?

The Country Music Association announced, today, the addition of more performers to the telecast of the 43rd CMA Awards.  To be televised on ABC, the show is going to be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and it will take place on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.  Added today to the lineup of performers were Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, the Zac Brown Band and, for the first time in four years, Tim McGraw.  Longtime CMA Awards host Vince Gill will join rock band Daughtry for a duet (on their country-ish "Tennessee Line" track from their Leave This Town album).

These performers join the previously announced performances by Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and the hosts, Underwood and Paisley. While "Tennessee Line" recalls stuff that's not dissimilar to what we hear on the radio nowadays, should a rock band really be a performer on an award show that is celebrating mainstream country music?
