some of those numbers are pretty bad example it's taken Carrie Underwood's Cry Pretty 17 months to be certified platinum while for example It took Adele's 2011 album 21 just over a year to go 9 x platinum 89 weeks 4 days to reach diamond and 5 1/2 years to reach 14 x platinum and may receive an updated certification this year with the pending release of her 4th album reportedly due out in September granted music sales in general have gone down a lot since then over 70 % since her last album 25 was released in November 2015 alone so that would mean a debut week around 1,000,000 for her new album in the US 240,000 in the UK etc. as for totals by billboard year end in November around 5 million in US is likely and about 1.8 million in the UK so 6 x platinum
