Aaron Lewis – Country Boy

With rock music charts seemingly disappearing, where’s an acousitc rocker to go? Well, apparently country music or ‘alternative country.’  Does this single, which features George Jones and Charlie Daniels, have a legitimate shot at country airplay success?

Already a Top 40 hit on the active rock charts, “Country Boy” is Aaron Lewis’ first salvo at a solo country music career.  While there are dobros, fiddles and other country instrumentations, his singing isn’t that different from his other acousitc rock tunes that he wrote and recorded for his popular band Staind.  While it reamins to be seen if country music will play this song, he does have George Jones and Charlie Daniels guesting on the song and has likely given all three their first active rock radio chart hits. What do you think of this song? Do you want to hear Aaron Lewis on country radio? If more stations played rock, would Aaron Lewis even be trying to have a country radio career? Or his he simply testing the waters a la Kid Rock?
