Jake Owen - "Real Life"

Take a listen to the official soundtrack to your summer is here. 2015 is all about "Real Life," y'all.

It’s official! Summer is now here as the “Summer Jam” of 2015 has hit us. What’s great about Jake Owen’s “Real Life” is that mixed in with the playful melody is a song that has lyrics that are instantly relatable. This is a talking song in the verses with a chorus that screams 90s pop rock but is there anything wrong with a little fun melody and sing-a-long in the summertime? Nope. “Real Life” has relatable, “yes, that’s us” type of lyrics and that’s all a country music song needs to do for me (for country music has never been about JUST the sounds as much as a relatable set of lyrics). That’s a debate for another time, I suppose, but given how much of an ear worm this song is, I fully expect country radio and fans to eat up the song.

“Real Life” definitely has a feel good, summer vibe to it. I’d say, that, even if it had nonsensical lyrics, the melody would probably be enough for most but it doesn’t. “Real Life” (Written by Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne) is a song that has both an engaging melody and relatable lyrics and that’s spells hit to me.
