Keith Urban & Eric Church - "Raise 'Em Up"

Take a listen to the poignant new single from the two superstars here.

This is a stunningly simple song in that it finds the American Idol judge Keith Urban singing about all the various ways people can raise things up in the air throughout ones life. From lighters and hands at country music concerts to trucks and girls in shotgun seats to sails, toasts, umbrellas at death, etc.

A duet with Eric Church, "Raise 'Em Up" which was written by Tom Douglas, Jaren Johnston and Jeffrey Steele, is subversively deep lyrically and is about the ebb and flow in the moments of our lives. Keith Urban & Eric Church passionately perform the mid-tempo ballad while the melody may remind some of Urban's smash hit "Somebody Like You." Regardless of melody similarites, "Raise 'Em Up" has potential to be amongst the Song of the Year contenders come award season this fall (not ever a bad thing for a fifth single from an artist's project (Urban's Fuse album).

Matt- I am sure you are aware that Keith's #1 song of the decade as named by Billboard is called Somebody Like You. The melody is the exact same melody as Somebody Like You. Keith must have rewrote the melody but took no writing credit.

I doubt that he rewrote the melody of this to be the same as that. But familiar melodies are gonna be common.
