Taylor Swift Launches Official "Pop" Album "1989"

The Country/Pop icon finally announces new music directly to fans.

Fans who've long held court that Taylor Swift was nothing but a pop singer 'trying' to be Country will be pleased to know that the superstar's upcoming album 1989 will not find any of its songs actively promoted to Country radio, though they should expect a few stations (or morning shows) to at least play one or two of the tracks at some point.

Swift announced, via a Yahoo! Livestream that she'll release new single "Shake It Off" (sent to Top 40 radio stations after the announcement) and that 1989 will be released on October 27.

“We made the most sonically cohesive album I’ve ever made. I was listening to a lot of late ’80s pop, because I love the chances they were taking, and how bold it was, and how ahead of its time it was,” said Swift. “What I found from reading up on it and really diving into the late ’80s, was it was apparently a time of limitless potential and this idea that you can be who you want, wear what you want, love who you want. The idea of that was so inspiring to me, so limitless possibility was a theme for me.”
