Inspired by his own life over the past few years, Matthew Check did what every songwriter decided to do. He wrote songs about those moments in his life and in a unique twist, the entirety of his new EP, The Bridgeford Sessions, was recorded in a single afternoon. This song, “The Last Song,” is from that EP and you’re getting an exclusive preview of the song right here before it’s wider release on Friday, March 11, 2022.
If you’re not familiar with his name, Matthew Check has written several albums over the past years and has fronted bands and been part of the rap-influenced bluegrass act Gangstagrass (that’s his banjo you hear on their Emmy-nominated song “Long Hard Times to Come,” which was the theme song to FX’s show based on Elmore Leonard novels, Justified.
“The Bridgeford Sessions” arrives on the heels of the release of a pair of archival albums released in 2021. This song, along with the EP from it showcase an artist who continues to write what he knows and lives and we hope you enjoy the song enough to check his music out more, just like we did.
