He wowed us with "All On Me" and his debut album Dark Horse showcased a talented, unique within country music artist. The production by Jay Joyce on "Dark Horse" is what sets the single apart. With an emotive vocal, Dawson gets introspective about who he is and where he comes from. That the distance he has towards some people is just him protecting himself. He loves god, women and country music, but he's not going to ever be the gregarious man displaying these affections. It's a nice blend of acoustic country pop and in the fall/winter/spring months, it should do quite well at radio as it's a highly relatable single.
