the best singles of 2009

Well folks, here we are.  The last day of 2009 brings us the last day of the Top 40 singles of 2009 countdown.  While some of these songs were bigger hits than others, we fully believe that these singles selected represent the best of 'mainstream' country music for 2009.

We've hit the home stretch of our countdown of the Top 40 country singles of 2009 and now have approached the first half of our Top 10 singles of 2009.  As with any countdown of this sort, there are sure to be some disagreements with the selections.

A week ago, we gave you our first set of 10 best singles of 2009 and now here we have collected the second group of favorites.  These 10 songs range from hits to near-misses or never were hits, but that doesn't make them less worthy of being called The Best of 2009.

With a gruff, baritone voice, Matt Kennon certainly has a like-it or leave-it voice. Yet somehow, the words of this debut single managed to get past all of that hullabaloo to get the Artist on the charts and in our hearts this year with its touching words.

Lady Antebellum continued its successful year of 2009 by following up its first number one hit, “I Run to You” with “Need You Now.” This single, which recently spent a month atop the charts, also scored the trio the #1 songs of all

When this song was released, the man and ego were separated from the country singer and it provided us with a great 'protest' song from John Rich.  This song became one of our favorites immediately upon release and has stayed in our minds all year long.

After struggling to find the right song to break through with at country radio, Curb Records duo Bomshel finally found that song in "Fight Like A Girl." The single showed off the stellar talent the duo has while also sharing a powerful message for women everywhere.
