Scotty McCreery is still heating up country radio airwaves with his latest single and title track to his newly-released album, “See You Tonight.” The single is the first song penned by McCreery to be released as a single, and by the looks of it, we will be hearing plenty more from the American Idol winner in the coming years. McCreery co-wrote “See You Tonight” with hit songwriter Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell, both of which have several other tunes making plenty of noise throughout Music City.
Roughstock caught up with songwriter Ashley Gorley at his recent No. 1 party honoring Randy Houser’s chart-topper “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” (which Gorley co-wrote with Dallas Davidson and Kelley Lovelace), to talk about the day the three wrote the song country fans can’t get out of their heads!
“I wrote this with Zach Crowell and Scotty over at Zach’s house,” Gorley tells Roughstock. “He’s a great writer, a great instrumentalist and a great track guy. We had some different grooves going. Honestly that one happened pretty quick. Scotty’s always out on the road, running around doing different stuff, so we were lucky to get the opportunity to write with him.
“It was just one of those things where ‘See You Tonight’ lyrics fit the groove that Zach had going,” adds Gorley. “We knocked it out pretty quickly, and Scotty was all excited about a lighter kind of uptempo thing, so we just kind of went from there.”
