With four consecutive #1 hits and a platinum Learn to Live album, Darius Rucker’s emergence in the country music world was certainly a stunning move for an artist with over 20 million albums sold with Hootie & The Blowfish, the Grammy-winning band he fronted for years. So, with the success he’s already achieved how does Darius Rucker follow-up his smashing country debut? He releases “Come Back Song” a tune that fits well with what he’s already recorded yet it features a little bit more audible ‘traditional’ instruments like mandolin and steel guitars.
“Come Back Song” features a jovial melody that goes against the lyrics but that doesn’t mean that Darius’ character in the song doesn’t miss the woman who left him so he is singing his ‘get back, come back song.’ He admits all of his faults and his stupidity in releasing himself from his relationship.
This song may not be the ‘traditional’ waltzes and western tunes that Darius loves nor is a classic modern country song but as far as radio airwave hits are concerned, “Come Back Song” is a strong, immediate hit for Darius. It’s gonna help generate buzz for his album with a sing-a-long lyric and jovial melody driving the way.
