Top Country Catalog Album Sales: October 9, 2019

Country music icons, like the two pictured here, make up a majority of this special chart rundown.

It's been a while since we've ran one of these charts for y'all and so with that in mind, we've cobbled up a post-Country Music: A Film By Ken Burns version for you. As you can see from below, Kacey Musgraves debuts on this chart with her Grammy-winning Golden Hour album.  But after her, it's a long line to UMG Nashville label mate Chris Stapleton and rising star Tyler Childers before we find "current" artists on this chart. Otherwise, it's classic artists with a bevy of greatest hits, best of's, essentials, and Icon series releases, the kinds of catalog-milking releases that dominate the small (and getting smaller) shelf space at big box stores. These releases in CD form are often $7.50 or less (most often $5) and thus make for a quick impulse buy. That being said, the TV series did help individual albums this week like Stardust, Will The Circle Be Unbroken and Red Headed Stranger. Below you'll find weekly totals and also the total album scans to date (most since 1991's introduction of SoundScan).

This is great! Thanks. I think you have Shania Twain and Brooks & Dunn switched.

some of those are in need of updated RIAA certifications such as Willie Nelson Super Hits should be 2 x platinum Legend Of Johnny Cash should be 4 x platinum etc most of the other albums are accurately certified Carrie Underwood's Blown Away for example is 2 x platinum also the Holiday charts should comeback in the next few weeks
