For the first time in their career, Whiskey Myers have a #1 country album. The Texas-based country/rock band also has a Top 10 debut on the Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart, also a first. They out-paced both Sturgill Simpson and Jon Pardi this week to score the top slot with an impressive 39,000 copies sold of their self-titled, Thirty Tigers-distributed album. Simpson debuted at #2 with sales of 26K in pure album sales while Pardi sits at #3 with his third album Heartache Medication finding 23,000 fans willing to actually own it (and not just stream or "add" it to their download libraries via streaming services). Last week's #1, Zac Brown Band's critically-savaged The OWL sits at #4 with two week pure sales numbers of 105k-plus, showcasing an artist who definitely has a fanbase willing to go where they go, even in this new world of streaming. Finally, the first of two Country Music: A Film By Ken Burns soundtracks appear on this chart's Top 10, both rouding out the Top 5 and Top 10, respectively. One is a massive multi-disc/track compilation and the other is a more digestible two disc-affair.
Sitting at #6 is former #1 album The Highwomen from The Highwomen supergroup. It has now sold over 46,100 copies while Billy Strings debuts at #7 with Home. Indie country/rap darling Upchurch sits at #8 with his two week old Parachute. The dude has once-again managed to hit these charts with his grassroots fans picking up what he's putting down. Sheryl Crow has said Threads is her last full length album (She'll instead release periodic singles and EPs to keep music "fresh") and it has done well for the veteran multi-genre star with 31,600 fans owning a copy of the record so far (to say nothing of fans who stream it).
Further down the chart with notables are looks at new releases from artists like Tanya Tucker, Trisha Yearwood, Tyler Childers, Riley Green, Morgan Wallen, Michaela Anne, Colt Ford, Vince Gill, Runaway June, Home Free, Paul Cauthen, Charlie Parr, Hardy, Leroy Gibbons, Kalie Shorr, The Bros. Landreth and more!
