Top 30 Digital Singles Chart: December 19, 2017

The Voice runner-up Red Marlow takes Vince Gill (pictured) classic "Go Rest High On That Mountain" to #1 (Gill's original returns to the Top 30 as a result). See the rest of the chart here.

In a trend that seems to have gotten stronger as 2017 has worn on, the digital sales for individual tracks, and albums in general seem to have plummeted as audiences migrate to streaming services like AppleMusic, Beats, YouTube and, of course, Spotify. This means that while albums and singles are still getting certified by the RIAA for Gold and Platinum levels of sales, those certifications are increasingly becoming focused on streaming to bolster the waning actual sale numbers.

Those facts being said, new  (or newish) artists continue to overtake the charts as country music goes through one of their cyclical turns with artists like LANco, Walker Hayes, Kane Brown & Lauren Alaina, Russell Dickerson, Brett Young and Scotty McCreery holding down the Top 10 places on the chart this week along with stars Thomas Rhett and Brett Young. Austin Cunningham and Red Marlow from The Voice's latest cycle round out the Top 10.  Rising star notables below the Top 30 include Morgan Wallen, Chris Lane's duet with Tori Kelly, Jordan Davis' break out hit "Singles You Up" and the vetran comeback of hit songwriter/artist David Lee Murphy with "Everything's Gonna Be Alright," his first Top 30 radio airplay hit in 13 years (the song is probably more of a hit because of Kenny Chesney's involvement than anything though it's a fantastic track in its own right).

Below is what will be the final chart we post for the 2017 calendar year.
