Country Albums Chart Report: May 2, 2017

Brad Paisley's back this week with his brand new album Love And War. The album scanned nearly 26k to lead the SoundScan Top Country Albums chart and had nearly 30k in total activity to land at #12 on the all-genre Billboard 200 Chart. Sitting at #2 is Keith Urban with his 553k selling (and still going strong) Ripcord. Chris Stapleton's Traveller is at #3 weeks before his sophomore solo project hits stores. He's scanned 1.9 million copies of the record while indie country singer/songwriter Taylor Ray Holbrook is at #4 with 5,500 fans buying his Backroads EP. That was good for a 113 overall placement on the Billboard 200 chart. Miranda Lambert's The Weight Of These Wings sits at #5 with nearly 339k scanned to date.

Top Ten Recap

With 21,500 copies scanned to date, Joey Martin Feek's long-lost solo album If Not For You still remains in the Top 10 on this chart. It moved 4,300 copies this week. Brett Young's debut album is one of the few rising albums this week with sales of nearly 60k t0 date (the best for a new artist so far in 2017). Reba McEntire's Gospel juggernaut album Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith is at #8 with sales now at 163k plus. Brantley Gilbert's The Devil Don't Sleep is at #9 with sales of 160k to date while at #10 we have Kane Brown's Kane Brown. The RCA Records debut now has 141k scanned and is one of 2016's best-selling albums from a country newcomer.

Notables

Little Big Town's The Breaker is approaching 100k scanned while Josh Turner's Deep South has now scanned nearly 39k. There are a ton of new records for Record Store Day on our rundown, toplined by Jason Isbell's vinyl recording of cover tunes. The album, Live From Welcome To 1979 was recorded in Nashville and scanned over 2,100 copies. Other RSD albums on our chart rundown (linked below) belong to Brandy Clark, Margo Price, and The Cadillac Three. Veteran country stars Josh Thompson (who scored his first #1 as a songwriter with "Any Ole Barstool" last week) and Deryl Dodd have new albums on this chart as do Charlie Worsham, Angaleena Presley and Jason Eady.
