Country Albums Chart Report: November 9, 2015

The CMA Awards helps performers and nominees like always but in an abnormal movement, Chris Stapleton has taken over the internet because of the show with "Traveller."

After the performance of a lifetime on the 49th Annual CMA Awards, where the humble and kind Chris Stapleton seemingly came out of "nowhere" to sweep the award program, He had basically 28 hours to take over the album sales charts and man did he ever do just that. Chris Stapleton's Traveller outsold everyone by a huge margin to take #1. In fact, the 153k he sold this week is more than he'd sold in the 25 previous weeks COMBINED! It's a massive number and something that should be repeated next week too. If he were to sell 250k, he'd hit RIAA Gold certification levels. One thing's for sure. The guy everyone loves in Nashville has become the it guy in country music. At #2 is last week's #1 album, Storyteller, with 73k scanned. At #3 is Eric Church's Mr. Misunderstood. The album, released on the day of the CMA Awards also only had basically 2 days of numbers here to scan nearly 71k downloaded albums. At #4 is Chris Janson's debut album Buy Me A Boat with nearly 19k scanned its first week of release. Rounding out the Top 5 is Blake Shelton's two week old Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits.

Top Ten Recap

Sitting at #6 is Luke Bryan's Kill The Lights with 691k scanned to date. Sam Hunt has the #7 and #9 albums with Thomas Rhett's Tangled Up sandwiched between Montevallo and Between The Pines. Don Henley's Cass County rounds out the Top 10 with 165k scanned to date.
