Morgan Frazier & Tyler Dickerson Land On "Team Blake" For The Voice

Talented young singers from Nashville get second chance thanks to NBC's The Voice.

Being an artist signed to a record label in Nashville can be tough. Especially if you're young or working with a flailing label or management team that just didn't work out. For Morgan Frazier, her deal with Sidewalk/Curb Records ended when regime changes at the company happened while Tyler Dickerson's career seemed to end just as it started for him when his label closed doors while in the midst of a radio tour.

For Morgan Frazier, her time with Curb’s Sidewalk Records subsidiary allowed her to release a five song EP but after releasing “Yellow Brick Road” and “Hey Bully,” the talented singer/sognwriter lost her deal and manager which left her eligible to participate on the Fall 2015 season of NBC’s Emmy-winning program The Voice. Now 22, the singer landed on Blake Shelton’s team where she could end up following the paths of Cassadee Pope, RaeLynn, Gwen Sebastian, The Swon Brothers, and Danielle Bradbery with her second chance at success.

Tyler Dickerson was managed and mentored by John Rich and even signed to Lyric Street Records as a teenager after being a regular at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge (Frazier is also a regular performer there). After having his record deal fall through when Lyric Street Records closed doors in 2010, Dickerson got into a bad car accident and now, still a young 21 years old, the singer is back to show off his talent though his second chance with The Voice and Blake Shelton as his coach.

One thing that’s been great about The Voice is that they don’t hide the fact that these artists are getting a shot to return to their dreams and while there may be ‘pros,’ everybody deserves a second chance. Also, the show has never been just about “amateurs” getting their big break (like American Idol marketed itself as) so while both Frazier and Dickerson cannot possibly win the show, one or both could make it all the way to the finale and that would be enough to give labels a chance to support one or both to further their careers.

What do you think about these young singers getting another shot at stardom on The Voice?
