Old Dominion’s “Break Up With Him” Certified Gold by RIAA

Rising band’s debut album “Meat and Candy” will be available for pre-order starting October 2, 2015.

After becoming one of 2015’s breakout acts (and tipped by US as ones to watch in 2015), Old Dominion is set to release their debut album Meat and Candy on November 6, 2015. The album will be available for pre-order starting this friday and to celebrate the occasion, Sony Music Nashville (home of the band’s label RCA Nashville), surprised the band with Gold certification plaques for their break-out Top 10 and rising hit “Break Up With Him.”

“This year continues to be one for the ages for us,” says Matthew Ramsey. “Months ago we were in our van, pounding the pavement to build our fan base. Now we have a GOLD RECORD! Our fans and friends at country radio are amazing and we look forward to singing this song with them for a long time!”

The band’s success has been built off their continued stardom on SiriusXM’s The Highway channel which was the first radio station to spin anything from the band (and helped make “Break Up With Him” an early viral hit). Now, the song is certified Gold and made a rare jump on the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week to #6 (from #11) and on Mediabase/Country Aircheck’s chart, the song jumped from #12 to #9 (all signs point to the song becoming a #1 hit for the five-piece band (Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Brad Tursi, Geoff Sprung & Whit Sellers) which co-wrote “Break Up With Him.”

The band’s new album Meat And Candy will have 11 new tracks with the lead singer Matthew Ramsey co-writing each of the songs (many with band members Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi and band producer Shane McAnally). The album’s pre-order will feature four instant gratification tracks (the tracks found on the previously-released self-titled EP, an EP released before the band signed with RCA Nashville).

The band’s stellar year also includes having performed on 18 stadium dates with Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival Tour along with the rest of their 170 shows. The band also will hit the road with Chesney for his stadium tour in 2016 as they’ve already been selected to join Chesney and Miranda Lambert on the tour. The band’s Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi also co-wrote Chesney’s #1 single “Save It For A Rainy Day,” just one of the many hits they wrote as songwriters before the collective took off. Among their other hits as writers are “Sangria,” “Say You Do,” “Better Dig Two,” “Chainsaw,” “Wake Up Loving You,” “A Guy Walks Into A Bar” and songs recorded by Jake Owen, the Cast of Nashville, Jake Owen, Chris Young, Randy Rogers Band, William Clark Green, Sam Hunt, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan, to name but a few.
