The King of Country Music has announced his next album to hit stores Friday AND to have a residency in Las Vegas.

George Strait To Release "Cold Beer Conversation" this friday on Apple iTunes and Walmart. The single will hit radio tomorrow.

George Strait:

I'm so happy to be here to announce this. I said all along I wasn't going to tour anymore but I wasn't retiring and would play some dates. After the AT&T show in Dallas, I went in the studio and cut a new record. I'm very excited to have the album out and very excited to be able to perform for the fans...Looking forward to singing those songs I love so much and I'm really, really looking forward to it.

Kacey Musgraves will support George in the Las Vegas dates.

Update: George Strait to play Las Vegas in April 2016 and various other dates.

---

George Strait has sold nearly 400,000 copies of his live album The Cowboy Rides Away and released a new single from an unreleased album earlier this year. While radio didn't really play the tune, that doesn't mean that the iconic country singer who is semi-retired from touring will not put out an all new record.

As such, he (or his team) tweeted today that there's major news coming today and to stay tuned.

So, Our guess is that he's announcing a late October or early November album release for fans to buy in the upcoming Christmas shopping season.
