Top 10 Songs Of The Summer 2015

We have listened to all of the hits for this summer came to curate this list for y'all. We think it represents the best of country radio for the summer of 2015.

Every year it seems people are looking for “The Song of the Summer” to sort of serve as the capper or timeless reminder of the summer that was. And it’s with that in mind that we’ve pared down a larger list of hits from the summer of 2015 to come up with this list of the Top 10 songs of the summer for 2015:

  • “Kick The Dust Up” by Luke Bryan - The songs of the summer list wouldn’t be complete without a Luke Bryan song and while I honestly like his sophomore single “Strip It Down” a lot more, this one belongs here as it not only was a hit but it has been amongst the most-played country songs of the Summer for 2015 and a good “kick off” to this list.
  • “I’m Comin’ Over” by Chris Young - This one is one of the few ballads on the list here but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve to be here. The powerful vocal from C.Y. is among the best vocals of the year and the production gives the song some extra power. This may be the youngest song on our list but it’s definitely deserving of holding fort.
  • “Break Up With Him” by Old Dominion - This new band has been one of my favorites for well over a year now and this one, which I once thought would’ve been perfect for another artist to record, feels perfect for this list of songs of the Summer. Not only that, it’s still rising and could be the Song of the Fall, not that there are such lists for those occasions.
  • “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” by Keith Urban - The song that’s still growing on the charts, it’s only 11 weeks old but basically has been heard across radios and playlists since the very beginning of summer 2015. The song has everything we usually want in a ‘summer song’ with nostalgic and/or fun lyrics and a melody that could be the definition of an ear worm.
  • “Lose My Mind” by Brett Eldredge - Still rising the top 10 of the charts, this one is also an ear worm and is part of a handful of R&B/soul-leaning tunes along with Zac Brown Band’s “Loving You Easy” and Thomas Rhett’s song (see below) “Crash And Burn.” It seems that some years of distinct sounds making their way through a genre happens to be the R&B/soul influence for 2015.
  • “Like A Wrecking Ball” by Eric Church - There’s a primal vibe to any song of the summer list of songs and “Like A Wrecking Ball” may have that more than any as it tells the story of a man who has been away from his home so long that all he longs to do is be with his wife to have some intimate moments. The melody and the lyrics all work nicely and Church gives one of his most passionate vocals ever. The song also fits the soul/R&B theme that is running through this list and the genre as a whole.
  • “Crash And Burn” by Thomas Rhett - The lead single from his forthcoming sophomore album Tangled Up, “Crash And Burn” has become one of the songs that has defined the sound of country music in 2015. It has a jovial summery shimmer to the melody that feels timeless and inspired by the classic soul and pop songs from the likes of Sam Cooke and Michael Jackson and Garth Brooks.
  • “House Party” by Sam Hunt - The third straight #1 from Sam Hunt, “House Party” most-definitely qualifies for this list. The lyrical content and melodies all play off each other well and the song certainly is set to be one of the more memorable singles of the summer and it just misses this summer’s top two spots.
  • “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town - Not your typical song of the summer as it’s a torch ballad, we nonetheless felt that “Girl Crush” deserved a spot on this list thanks to being one of the year’s biggest and best hits and the best-selling single released in 2015 (to date). It's also one of the best-written songs to hit in the past decade and if not for the song below it, it'd easily be our top choice for the song of the summer 2015.
  • “Buy Me A Boat” by Chris Janson - How can we not have this guy’s song as song of the summer 2015? He went from self-released indie guy to major label success all in the course of the spring and summer with “Buy Me A Boat” making it all the way to the Top 5 on both the sales and radio airplay chart. In a time when songs are selling less, Chris Janson is connecting with this everyman hit ripped from his own life. How could we not choose the coolest story in country music as the #1 song of the summer for 2015?

Well, folks, there you have it. Our Top 10  selections for the songs for the Songs of the Summer 2015. It wasn’t an easy list of songs to corral but we feel these ten songs best-represent the kind of songs you could hear on country radio in the summer of 2015, a summer which didn’t have many female voices but did offer songs that are better than the average summer of hits from the summer of 2015.

Songs also in consideration for “Song of the Summer 2015” include “Love Me Like You Mean It” by Kelsea Ballerini, “Crushin’ It” by Brad Paisley, “Loving You Easy by Zac Brown Band, “Stay A Little Longer” by Brothers Osborne,” “Burning House” by Cam, “Real Life” by Jake Owen, “Kiss You In The Morning” by Michael Ray, “I Love This Life” by LOCASH, “Smoke” by A Thousand Horses,” “Fly” by Maddie & Tae, “We Went” by Randy Houser,” “Anything Goes” by Florida Georgia Line,” “21” by Hunter Hayes, “Sangria” by Blake Shelton, “Long Stretch Of Love” by Lady Antebellum,“I Got The Boy” by Jana Kramer and “Let Me See Ya Girl” by Cole Swindell.

My favorite song this summer was definitely "Crushin it" or "Buy me a Boat". With that being said, really wish Blake Shelton would of released "Bringing back the Sunshine" as a new single during the summer cause I had that one playing a lot when i was out in the truck.

frankly, a list without Luke Bryan wouldn't be a problem since there are way better songs out there and expecially since kick the dust up is horrible. It would be just an honest list. now, the best songs of the summer are: I'm Comin Over - Chris Young John Cougar... - Keith Urban Crushin It - Brad Paisley Fly - Maddie and The Top of the World - Tim Mcgraw Dibs - Kelsea Ballerini Night's on Fire - David Nail Little Bit of You - Chase Bryant Smoke Break - Carrie Underwood I Got the Boy - Jana Kramer

"Nights On Fire," "Smoke Break" and "Top Of The World" were all too new for the criteria of this list. But that's fine. :)

    • Lorenzo

I know that the criteria is country radio, but since country radio plays a lot of bad music I totally exclude that.

  • Erika Meyers

I'd definitely put Scotty McCreery's "Southern Belle" on that list -- but maybe you are holding it for Top Songs of Fall since it just came out!

Yes, it's way too new. The criteria is that the songs were actual hits on radio this summer. It will be on a forthcoming songs to look forward to list.
