It’s not often you get to spend your birthday in unfamiliar locals but that’s exactly what "I'm Sick Of It" singer SaraBeth did for her birthday last week. The rising country music star had me, a northwest native, as her guide for a few of the sights and attractions in Seattle prior to her National Anthem performance at the night’s Seattle Mariners game vs, conveniently, her hometown team, the Texas Rangers.
She was taken on a tourist-like tour of Seattle’s Pike Place Market, the nation’s oldest continuous outdoor farmer’s market, Seattle Great Wheel, one of the city’s newest and coolest attractions. A lunch at the iconic waterfront restaurant Ivar’s served as a break from the excitement before we toured more of the city prior to heading to Safeco Field for soundcheck.
After soundcheck, SaraBeth invited some fans to hang out with her at Pyramid Brewery before she had to be at the stadium a couple of hours later. A few fans who couldn’t make it sent special gifts to SaraBeth while others came and were able to chat with the personable singer/songwriter before the game. From there, SaraBeth, her family and I went to the game where she got ready to sing and after singing, sat in some good seats and took in the game.
During the game, SaraBeth received a plethora of great comments about her National Anthem performance and a couple of fans met up with SaraBeth (and I) at the Dave Niehaus statue in right field for a few innings.
All in all, the event was a successful event for SaraBeth and given how well she performed the National Anthem, she’s likely to be asked back for the 2016 season.
Below is a gallery of some photos of SaraBeth at some of the iconic Seattle locations mentioned in this story.
