Jason Isbell Debuts at #1 on Multiple Charts

Critically-acclaimed album "Something More Than Free" tops Country, Rock and Folk charts this week.

It was a tight race on the country album sales chart but Jason Isbell’s Something More Than Free pulled out the victory by mere hundreds of albums sold to out pace Alan Jackson’s Angels And Alcohol album. The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart selling nearly 46,000 copies its first week (it hit stores July 17). Since its release, the album has remained at #1 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart. The album, as mentioned above, topped the Country, Rock and Folk charts while also coming in at #2 on the Independent album chart.

Something More Than Free blends Isbell’s poetic lyrics with interesting melodies as he tells authentic stories about working class characters and is the follow-up to his equally critically-acclaimed album the 2013 release, Southeastern. Critics from Wall Street journal, New Your Times, Stereogum, The Oxford American, NPR’s Fresh Air, Absolute Punk, Rolling Stone and more have all hailed the album as one of the year’s finest.

Jason is set to tour with his band The 400 Unit throughout the summer and Fall at these locations which includes four sold-out shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in late October.
