Katie Armiger Not Taking A Break

Story continues to get messier and more strange by the day.

Over the past week, curious things have come to light with regard to Katie Armiger's relationship with Cold River Records, the only record label she has knows in her seven years of being a recording artist.

First, there was a curious news release last week about Armiger "taking a break" from her career to focus on other things as a young woman who literally grew up in the public eye. They said there'd be no new album (it was shelved) and that's where things got weird because Katie Armiger played some songs and celebrated it's upcoming release at her annual fan club party. There was no word at the party and in fact, she seemed genuinely excited to get the music out.

Then came the hammer of a press release a week ago and then, through the week, word leaked out that Armiger had lost all access to her social media accounts with the Twitter account being inactivated, but not before posting this (which was captured by The Guardian's Grady Smith before being taken down by the label in control of the social media accounts).

It's a shame that such a relationship had to come to the publics attention this way but perhaps even worse is the way the recording company seems to be going about trying to make statements as if they were Armiger (Facebook posts, etc).

Just yesterday, the label continued their narrative that Katie was choosing to "take a break" by releasing this email to all people who entered the "Girl With Dreams" contest:

It is with a sad heart we must inform you Katie Armiger has notified us of her intention to suspend her music career with Cold River Records. As a result, we had to cancel the Girls With Dreams Songwriting Contest. For your inconvenience, we will offer you a refund of $30.00 on each of your submissions. The refunds will be processed this week. We wish you all the best in your songwriting career and we know Katie also hopes you will achieve great success in your songwriting and music career.

That's about all we know for now. we reached out to Katie for her side of the story but because it's a legal matter, she could only say she'll talk publicaly about this whole issue when she's legally able to do so.

We'll update this story as it develops.
