Americana Airplay Chat Added to Nash Country Weekly

Chart is part of the NASH Country Weekly's new "Charts" section of the national print magazine. Pictured Dwight Yoakam is one of the artists on the chart.

Country fans will have one more chart to learn of new and interesting artists from outside the Top 40/Mainstream event. With the publishing of the Americana Music Association’s Americana Airplay Chart in the former Country Weekly magazine.

It’s all part of Nash Country Weekly’s suite name change and facelift which includes a new graphic design and new content for their extended audience.

"We are excited to have our chart included in the premier edition of Nash Country Weekly," said Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association. "It's a fantastic contrast to the mainstream commercial names you will see on other charts. The Americana Airplay Chart represents a diverse array of American roots music styles and is probably the only chart where country music enthusiasts can find Ray Wylie Hubbard, The Mavericks, Dwight Yoakam, Asleep at the Wheel celebrating the music of Bob Wills, and Eilen Jewell all on the same page."

In recent months, the Americana Music Association has increased its attention to supporting those radio stations that play the eclectic, roots music acts of the genre. Buoyed by the recent PubRadio Music Discovery Listener Study, conducted by leading media consulting firm Paragon on behalf of the PRPD, which showed unforseen consumer interest in the genre, the Association hired Michele Block Rhoades to focus solely on the terrestrial, satellite, and internet radio landscape. The results have produced a new universal airplay chart integrating select tastemaker stations and programs, yielding an increase of reporting stations from 46 to 79 in the past few months, and greater interest in the format overall.
