Willie & Merle's "Django & Jimmie" Set For #1

33 years after they first hit #1 with "Pancho & Lefty," iconic duo is set to debut at the top spot once again.

After an incredible set-up and first day sales, Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard’s new record Django & Jimmie(Legacy Recordings) is poised to debut at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and Top 10 (and climbing) on Top 200 Albums chart.  This would be another staggering achievement for the two founding fathers of American outlaw country music, who last enjoyed a #1 record together 32 years ago with Pancho & Lefty.

Helmed by longtime producer Buddy Cannon, Willie joined forces with friend and collaborator Merle Haggard  for the 14 brand-new studio recordings on the album including "Django and Jimmie," a dual tribute to jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers, "Missing Ol' Johnny Cash," an homage to country music's original Man in Black featuring guest vocals from Bobby Bare; and the future outlaw country classic "Unfair Weather Friend," written by rising songsmiths Marla Cannon-Goodman (Buddy Cannon's daughter) and Ward Davis. Django and Jimmie is available now.
