Newly signed to Cleopatra Records (the record label which also signed and released a new album from Collin Raye earlier this year), Sammy Kershaw has announced the June 9th release of I Won’t Back Down.

Sammy Kershaw is back with his first album of new material in five years after releasing Do You Know Me, his tribute album to George Jones, last year. Sammy’s new album features a mixture of new tracks including romantic tunes like “Lay Back Down” and “Lets Lay Here Forever” to the heartfelt regret found in “I Had To Give That Up Too.” The album also includes a couple of covers in “Take A Letter Maria” and the title track, Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.” The album also includes fun stuff like “Fixer Upper” and “Grillin’ And Chillin’.”

“At all of our shows, or wherever go, people keep asking for new music. I’m glad to have a new record coming their way. They’ve waited a while. Hell, I’ve waited a while,” he said with a grin. “The other aspect of the new album that makes it exciting is getting a chance to work with Tim Yasui and all the staff at Cleopatra Records. Together, we’re ready to get it out to the people.”
