You know you've officially made it in music when an award winning actor reaches out to you personally about writing a song for their upcoming movie. That was exactly what happened to Miranda Lambert when she received a text from Reese Witherspoon, asking the singer to pen a track for the upcoming comedy, "Hot Pursuit." The result is Lambert's original "Two of a Crime."
“Reese texted me and told me about the movie and wanted me to write something or sing or both," explains Lambert. "I got inspired. I love Reese and Sofia. It was a bit of a 'Thelma and Louise' theme and that’s totally up my alley. It is really so fun to be part of it. It was the first time I wrote a song specifically for a movie, so it was a different experience for me.”
Lambert wrote the song with frequent collaborators Natalie Hemby and Nicolle Galyon. The notes from Witherspoon were that she wanted to have a “Southern and a Latin flavor” represented in the song. Lambert's recording of “Two of a Crime” will be available at iTunes on April 28. New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures present, a Foxy/Pacific Standard production, an Anne Fletcher film, “Hot Pursuit.” Set to hit theaters on May 8, 2015, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
