Michael Ray's "Kiss You In The Morning" Breaks Top 30

Warner Bros. newcomer's latest single breaks out into the level which will have the song airing on all countdown programs this weekend.

Newcomer Michael Ray is gaining a lot of attention in recent weeks with his brand new single, "Kiss You In The Morning." After only seven weeks, the tune is already cruising around the Top 30 on the country singles charts.

“Anytime I hear it on the radio it’s a big thing for me. It’s surreal,” Ray says. “I mean you grow up listening to radio and then you find yourself on a rotation with men and women you look up to and respect. The fans got me to Nashville and they just continue to help me get to the next step. This is mind-blowing. Top 30 in seven weeks? That leaves you just speechless. It’s just the most unbelievable thing.”

Written by Justin Wilson and Michael White and available on iTunes, the song is the first from Ray’s forthcoming new album, due later this year. “I love clever lyrics,” Ray notes. “I love the little twists. And we knew we wanted to come with an uptempo song, something that was a good introduction to the world. We just really felt like that song was it. The way that they wrote it, Justin Wilson and Michael White are an incredible team. I’m just very thankful they trusted me to cut it.”

Ray, a 26-year-old Eustis, Florida, native, came to Nashville with an already burgeoning fan base and has quickly added to his audience. He recently played for his first arena crowd participating in the NASH BASH at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. And he’s currently on the road with Sam Hunt on the Lipstick Graffiti Tour, playing for thousands of new fans every night.

“My band and his band are all boys,” Ray says. “Being out every night with those guys, they’re some of the most talented people I’ve ever been around. I’ve been standing at the side of the stage every night trying to learn everything I can. He’s putting us in front of sold-out crowds every night, so it’s just been great.”
