Cole Swindell Scores Third Consecutive No. 1 Hit

"Writing [this] with two of my best buddies makes it even sweeter because that accomplishment and success is shared between us," songwriter Josh Martin says of "Ain't Worth The Whiskey"'s chart-topping success.

To say Cole Swindell is on a roll is a definite understatement. This week, the singer-songwriter is back at the top of the charts with his latest No. 1 hit, "Ain't Worth the Whiskey." Swindell co-wrote the song with Josh Martin and Adam Sanders. The tune marks Swindell's third consecutive No. 1 hit, following debut release "Chillin' It" and his follow-up release "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight."

The song also marks the very first No. 1 hit for both Sanders and Martin. The three wrote "Ain't Worth the Whiskey" several years ago before Swindell became the hottest thing in country music.

"I mean, to me, a No. 1 song for a songwriter is success at the highest level," Martin tells Roughstock. "I feel like it's a songwriter's Super Bowl win or World Series title! Once you get the single, the game starts. Once you get to Top 10 and Top 5, the playoffs begin. And once you hit No. 1, you have won the championship. I'm a huge sports fan, so putting it into that analogy is the best way for me to really put it all into perspective.

"Writing it with two of my best buddies makes it even sweeter because that accomplishment and success is shared between us," he continues. "Ever since myself, Cole and Adam became friends, that is what we have wanted: to see each other have success at the highest level!"

Coming in behind Swindell on the charts are songs by the Zac Brown Band ("Homegrown"), Darius Rucker ("Homegrown Honey"), Chris Young ("Lonely Eyes"), Sam Hunt ("Take Your Time"), Lee Brice (Drinking Class"), Dierks Bentley ("Say You Do") and Keith Urban ("Raise 'Em Up").
