Country Artists Taking Cues From Hip-Hop and R&B Listed

Sam Hunt leads a new class of artists unafraid to blend the influence of the urban genres into their style of country music.

Unlike the pop and even rock genres, country music has largely stayed outside of the gates when it came to incorporating hip-hop and R&B genres. That is until the past five years or so as newer stars arrive, influenced by the music of their life that has often been blended on their mp3 players and streaming playlists, regardless of traditionally-labeled genres. The pictured (above) Sam Hunt is one of the leaders of this new blend of country music with a distinctive sound that sets him apart.

"As his upcoming album Montevallo proves, Sam Hunt wasn’t just listening to Diamond Rio and Garth Brooks records. Many of the songs on his album (like the hit 'Leave the Night On') use programmed loops as the percussive element," Says says the Pepsi Pulse article. “'Break Up in a Small Town' features a sing-song verse structure that’s straight out of the pages of Montell Jordan and, more recently, Drake."

The list also mentions Florida Georgia Line, Sara Ross, The Lacs, Colt Ford among These Country Artists Are Taking Cues From Hip-Hop and R&B's Traditiions.
