American Idol Dexter Roberts To Issue Debut Single

“Dream About Me” is singer’s first single with his new record deal after American Idol experience in 2013.

A Top 10 finalist in last year’s season of American Idol, Dexter Roberts has reason to be excited these days as the rising singer/songwriter has signed with First Launch Records to release his debut single “Dream About Me” in early March.

The song, co-written with David Jones, Brand Wolf and Don Goodman, was produced by Grammy®-nominated producer and songwriter Erik Nelson and was recorded at the Eclipse Studio in Normal, Ill. The song is the first single Roberts will be releasing since finishing in seventh-place on the 13th season of American Idol.

“I like to write about life and its experiences. Everyone has fallen in love and has that special person that they always remember, and ‘Dream About Me’ is a song about those ‘one that got away’ relationships. Writing this song was an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to write with songwriting legend Don Goodman, and the production process was mind-blowing! Getting to watch this song come to fruition was a dream come true, and my producer, Erik Nelson, is a genius.

The self-taught musician (guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, keyboards) has been playing music since he was five years old. When not playing music, he worked his family’s farm in Fayette, Alabama. While working, Dexter worked on his craft, honing his skills before making the decision to audition for American Idol. From that audition to performing on the show, where Keith Urban called him “The real deal,” Dexter Roberts has garnered a following which is surely excited about their Idol’s upcoming single and subsequent EP to be released by First Launch Records on March 24, 2015.
