Jamie Lynn Spears The Songwriter?

Indie country star’s hard work writing around Nashville pays off with new Jana Kramer single “I Got The Boy.”

After surprising many with the depth of her debut single “How Could I Want More” and subsequent EP release, Jamie Lynn Spears has surprised again as it was revealed that she is one of the co-writers of Jana Kramer’s new single “I Got The Boy.”

The work is a result of years working behind the scenes, as many unknowns and knowns do, honing her craft as a songwriter with the likes of Rivers Rutherford, Liz Rose, Chris Tompkins, Lisa Carver, Tyler Hayes and Corey Crowder. Those co-writes lead to the aforementioned EP and now, the Kramer cut.

Written by Jamie Lynn Spears with Connie Harrington and Tim Nichols, “I Got The Boy” tells a story of a woman who sees the man she loved marry someone else. But then it dawns on her that when he was with her, he was just a boy and thus not ready to commit but with his new love, he’s now a man ready to make the commitment he couldn’t make before. It’s a bittersweet ballad and one that Kramer performs admirably.
