Oscar Nominated singer, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Country Music Hall of Famer Glen Campbell documented the final tour of his career as he struggled with Alzheimer’s disease. The documentation lead to the Critic’s Choice-nominated film Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me and now the music from the documentary’s soundtrack will be released to stores on February 17 via Big Machine Records.
Featuring the Oscar and Grammy-nominated “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” the soundtrack serves as a great companion piece to the film with “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” serving as the final song Glen Campbell will ever record. The track is heartbreaking in it’s honest sincerity and confessional tone about how the tune — which Campbell co-wrote with producer Julian Raymond and tracked with the famous Wrecking Crew, serves as a lasting reminder to his wife that even when Alzheimer’s takes his mind completely, Glen Campbell will not miss her because that memory will long be gone.
The rest of the soundtrack features many songs from the life of Campbell’s career including “Gentle On My Mind,” as performed here by The Band Perry, and “Home Again” from his daughter Ashley Campbell, the songs take on a new meaning, including “Wichita Lineman.”
