Maddie & Tae Reveal Details of Upcoming “Fly” Video

Stunning and inspirational video is for the duo’s rising sophomore single from their upcoming album.

Maddie & Tae are using an innovative approach to the filming of their new music video for sophomore single “Fly.” The Ada, Oklahoma and Sugar Land, Texas natives are breathing life into the song via a uniquely-filmed video which enhances the duo’s single which celebrates the moment where doubt turns to belief in one’s self and dreams and how the mistakes you make also take you to where you wanna go, even when it may not seem like it at the time.

It’s a heart-felt song and they’ve worked with director Brian Lazzaro (who has produced clips for Rilo Kiley, Cory Chisel, The Cadillac Three and Eli Young Band’s “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” music video.

“Just like we didn’t want our second single to be like our first one,” Tae Dye explains, “we didn’t want our second video to be anything like our first one, which was so fun. I think Brian really took the idea of how vulnerable you feel when you’re trying and it’s crazy... and found ways that weren’t literal to represent that.”

“Brian’s amazing: the idea of ladders and chairs to show the climb?” Maddie Marlow picks up. “Being suspended – which we are in the performance – is just how it feels when you want everything to happen, but you’re sort of stuck in what you want and how it is. But that’s what the song’s about, too, those are the times when you really truly do have to keep trying.”

Capturing girls and women at various stages of life, the soft focus video celebrates vulnerability and strength, believing when it seems naïve and the will to make one’s dream happen in spite of the odds. Muted tones, evocative tableaus and a strong focus on Maddie & Tae’s irrepressible spirit evoke the song’s sentiment.

“I am not afraid of heights,” Tae said. “But being up on that wall kinda freaked me out.”

“It was pretty weird,” agreed Maddie. “I’ve never climbed a ladder in a dress that long or full... and all I could think was, ‘don’t fall and break something.’ But once we were up there, it was pretty cool.”
