Five Questions With...Luke Bryan

The superstar behind "Play It Again" answers a few questions at his press conference for the "Kick Up The Dust Tour."

Fresh on the heels of announcing his Kick The Dust Up Tour, Luke Bryan answered some questions from the media at The Ford Theatre in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, where the announcement took place. Below is the Q&A from this event:

Why was there a decision made to be Wrapping up the annual Spring Break concert shows?

Luke Bryan: “It’s been an amazing run doing that, going down there,” said Luke Bryan. “It just feels like it’s time to wrap it up. Lets put our efforts and focus into making a great album and maybe it’s time for somebody else to go there and do it…It’s been an amazing run.”

As you continue to hit every goal, how do you keep raising the bar after huge years like your 2014 was for you?

Luke: “I think you raise the bar by continuing to be excited by doing this. I’m honestly nervous here. The second you don’t feel that way), I’m not really feeling that way. All the people in my world and I sit around and figure out how to make stuff feel special.”

“It’s all about writing the songs, making the records and going out and playing the songs and seeing the fans faces light up.”

“I want fans to count on what they’ve come to know from my shows but I want to continually amaze them too with new stuff.”

“I’ve never been good at over-planning things. We try not to overthink it.”

Does it help you to know that you’ve had success in stadiums, have more confidence?

Luke: Yeah, this is really only my third year of true headlining so you never…I never want to take for granted the ability to go to a city twice. It’s nice that we can roll in there and add to the production of the show and we can start stretching our boundaries and how big we wanna make the show and are less confined by the anxiety of what’s to come, which is replaced by excitement.

Thoughts on moving the shows up into the Stadium level:

Luke: I’ll never forget when I walked onto the stage of Heinz Stadium in Pittsburg and remembering that the only way to know how to do this is run your ass out there and do it. That’s the only way to plan for it. At the end I thought, ‘well, that was an experience.’ Now I have four behind me and I’ll know how to get better to make every fan feel special.

Is there a new album coming soon?

Luke: Certainly. We were in the studio recording the Spring Break album and recorded four new songs to start get wrapping our head around the new album, with “Kick The Dust Up” as one of those songs. We have only four songs recorded for it so I don’t know the days yet. We’ll let you know when the new single off of that will come out.

I will hope for seven, because I want "Crash My Party" to reach Triple Platinum, and the CD needs at least one more release to get there this year. Outside of Taylor Swift, only Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" (3X Platinum) and Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" (4X Platinum) have reached or surpassed Triple Platinum. Now it is Luke Bryan's turn!

I guess this means he isn't trying for a seventh song off of "Crash My Party," but the album still has the chance to make history next week, at least on Mediabase, as the first Country CD ever to produce SIX Number One Songs.

Oh, they COULD still go 7 but I bet they'l release a song from the Spring Break album as a single, or they'll just release the title of the tour as a single. It's hard to know which song to go with if he's only got 4 recorded.
