"1992," The Sky Kings RCA Album, Finally Released

Supergroup featuring John Cowan, Pat Simmons, Bill Lloyd and Rusty Young's shelved album hits stores.

Originally recorded for RCA Nashville in 1992 but shelved until December 15, 2014, country/rock super group The Sky Kings finally see the album hit digital stores titled as 1992. The band, which features powerhouse vocalists John Cowan (New Grass Revival), Bill Lloyd (Foster & Lloyd), Rusty Young (Poco) and Pat Simmons (The Doobie Brothers) went on to record a second unreleased album for Warner Brothers Nashville in 1996/1997 but it, too, was unreleased until released on limited-edition CD by Rhino Handmade in the early 2000s as From Out OF The Blue.

With The Doobie Brothers releasing an album via Sony Nashville (home to RCA) titled Southbound, it makes sense for the label to release the long-shelved and unavailable album. for fans to listen to. The album, which showcases the kind of vocal harmonies that Diamond Rio and Shenandoah were known for, should’ve been a huge hit in 1992, a time when wide-open radio playlists allowed for success, yet it didn’t happen. until now. One of 1992's tracks, "Nothing Less Than Love," was featured on Bryan White's Platinum-selling self-titled album in 1994.

You can buy 1992 from The Sky Kings on iTunes.
