Dolly Parton Returning To The UK To Promote "Blue Smoke"

Dolly Parton will be making the rounds on the other side of the pond as she promotes her new album Blue Smoke in the United Kingdom.

She started this month with an appearance in The Foo Fighters documentary Sonic Highways, available to UK fans on the BBC iPlayer, in which Parton was interviewed by Dave Grohl.

Tomorrow, as part of the BBC’s Country Nights series, BBC Four will re-air the critically-acclaimed documentary Platinum Blonde, which will feature comments from Parton herself, along with famous friends such as Kenny Rogers, Alison Krauss, and her 9 To 5 costars Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman.

On November 9, BBC Radio 2 will release their Sounds of the 80s album, which will feature a live performance of “Lay Your Hands On Me,” featuring Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora, from his collaborative performance with Parton at London’s O2 and Glastonbury Festival. Previously, Parton covered the Bon Jovi tune on her Blue Smoke album earlier this year.

On November 21, BBC Four will re-air Parton's historic concert performance at the legendary Glastonbury Festival this past June, where over 170,000 came to watch her perform – the festival’s largest audience ever. Parton was dubbed “The Queen of Glastonbury",  with The Guardian reporting that “Parton rewarded Glastonbury with a performance that surely calls for a redefinition of the word 'crowd-pleaser.'"

On November 29, Parton will appear on QVC in the UK for a special interview and performance.

In addition to her radio and television appearances, Parton will also be featured in print publications such as Glamour, The Guardian, and The Mirror during the months of November and December.

Parton's new album Blue Smoke and the double disc edition Blue Smoke - The Best Of have met with remarkable success in the US and UK alike, with the album becoming her highest-ranking US album on the Billboard 200 ever, and being certified Double-Gold by the British Phonographic Industry this summer. The album debuted on the charts at No. 6  and has risen all the way to No. 2, her highest UK chart position ever, and is still on the charts now. The album will continue to be in the spotlight throughout the coming months on BBC Radio 2.
