Is Brad Paisley Racist? Joke About ABC Show Draws Backlash

Viewers on Twitter react to joke about a new ABC TV show and how it compares to the CMA Awards.

During a moment between performances, 2014 CMA Music Awards host Brad Paisley (who hosted the gala with his friend Carrie Undewood for the 7th year in a row) made a joke about the show in the normal time slot of the award program, Anthony Anderson's popular new show "Black-Ish."

"If any of you tuned in to ABC tonight expecting to see the new show Black-ish—yeah, this ain't it. In the mean time, I hope you're all enjoying...white-ish."

While it might have been a little 'lame' and exectued slighly poorly, the joke was more on how mainstream country music is one of the most non-diverse genres in all of music (and not just skin color, there's hardly any solo female stars on the radio, nn popular radio-played artists who happen to be openly gay, etc.). The joke was simply a Paisley joke that didn't land and one that blew by most people until some folks made a big issue about it on Twitter.

In all honesty, folks like the three quoted above are overtly reactive. But then again, isn't that what twitter's for?

This is getting to be ridiculous. The ABC show Black-ish would have been on last night instead of the CMAs, hello people. Brad did something like this last year w/ Modern Family. The President thing is fair game. Again if anyone was educated about Brad they would know that he is friend to the President played a few times for Obama and just got back from Air Force One after playing overseas for the troops. Seriously Enough People...go find some real issues to complain about!
