Country Album Sales Report: October 1, 2014

Kenny Chesney may have missed the Billboard Hot 200 #1 slot to Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett by less than 1,000 albums but he did still sell 130,000 copies of The Big Revival this past week to easily hold down #1 (out pacing #2 Tim McGraw by 107k albums. While Kenny's stay will be short (both Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum debut next week), He at least still has another #1 to his credit with an album most are hailing as a return to form. McGraw has sold 94k of Sundown Heaven Town in the first two weeks on the chart while icon George Strait's Cowboy Rides Away: Live From AT&T Stadium has sold 73k. Luke Bryan sits at #4 with Crash My Party while Lee Brice remains Top 5 after 3 weeks with I Don't Dance.

Top Ten Recap

Garth Brooks' The Ultimate Hits is at #6 with sales of 17k after two weeks of returning to store shelves (it's over 4x platinum). Florida Georgia Line are soon to debut Anything Goes on this chart but until then they sit at #7 with Here's To The Good Times, their Double Platinum debut. at #8 is Big & Rich's latest, Gravity. Blake Shelton's Based On A True Story lands at #9. As stated above, His next album will debut with a heavy figure likely to be at 150-200k or so. Rounding out the Top 10 is Alabama's Angels Among Us.

Notable Album Recap

Miranda Lambert kicks off a notable album section which includes two debuts. Josh Abbott Band's Tuesday Night EP moved a healthy 5,500 copies last week to debut at #57 on the overall Top 200 Albums chart while Lee Ann Womack's The Way I'm Livin' hit #99. Also making our notable rundown is Dierks Bentley's fantastic RISER, Dustin Lynch's three week old Where It's At and - of course - Miranda Lambert's Platinum.
