Lynn Anderson Charged With A DUI

Grand Ole Opry Member charged after trying to drive home under the influence last weekend.

Country legend Lynn Anderson was arrested in Nashville on a DUI charge just after 1:00 a.m. on Friday, after having been involved in a traffic accident on West End Avenue around 9:00 p.m. Thursday night.

According to police, Anderson admitted to drinking alcohol and taking prescription drugs prior to the crash. She was released from the Metro jail on a $5,000 bond around 4:00 a.m.

The Grammy-winning "Rose Garden" singer apologized for the incident in a message posted on her official Facebook page:

"I apologize for the choices I made and subsequent actions on Thursday evening that ultimately resulted in the accident. By the grace of God, I am very grateful that no one was injured as a result. I am committed to the accountable steps that I will be facing on the road to recovery and am deeply sorry for anyone that I have harmed along this path."

This is the third alcohol-related arrest for Anderson, who in the past has received dependency treatment at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Denton, Texas, in 2004, and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in 2006 following a minor accident near Española, New Mexico.
