Country Album Sales Report - August 27, 2014

It's a remarkable week for rising star Chase Rice who scores his first-ever #1 as an artist.

This week, we get two new albums igniting the Top 5 (see what we did there?). First up, Chase Rice's Ignite The Night hits #1 on this chart with over 44k scanned It. It has almost already outsold the Ready Set Roll EP's 2014 sales number and is already the #47 best-selling Country album of 2014 one week in. The album is his first #1 of any kind as an artist (he co-wrote "Cruise"). He also has the #3 album in all of the USA behind the new Wiz Khalifa and "Guardians of the Galaxy" albums. Scott Borchetta's dream to bring a Motley Crue tribute album to the Country world is complete as the album debuts at #2 (#5 all-genre). over 30k fans took home the album (which features Justin Moore's "Home Sweet Home"). The #3 album is Crash My Party from Luke Bryan. The album continues to benefit well as the Deluxe Edition at Target finally received a digital sales push last week. Brantley Gilbert's Just As I Am was #2 while Miranda Lambert's Platinum and Florida Georgia Line's Here's To The Good Times rounded out the Top 5 at #4 and #5 respectively.

Top Ten Recap

Florida Georgia Line's Here's To The Good Times remains in the Top 10 with sales now scanned over 2 million albums sold ('twas already certified Double Platinum). Eric Church is at #7 with The Outsiders. The album is still the best-selling Country album of 2014 but with new projects from FGL, Garth, Blake and more set to arrive this fall, that could possibly change. At #8 is Blake Shelton's Based On A True Story, Dierks Bentley is at #9 with Riser and rounding out the Top 10 is the Now Country 7 multi-artist compilation.

Notable Album Recap

Sam Hunt's X2C EP falls out of the Top 10 (as one would expect after one week) but it barely does so. Big Smo's Kuntry Livin' continues to find audiences as does Hunter Hayes' Storyline and Taylor Swift's RED (our first look at the 4x platinum album in months). Joel Crouse's Even The River Runs debuts at #20 on the Country Albums chart and Mike Ryan's Bad Reputation makes its move.

Other notes: Scotty McCreery's See You Tonight sold another 900 copies to land on the chart.
