Tennessee native Big Smo may be known to Joe Public for his popular A&E show “Big Smo” than his rural rap, but to the music community who has had a chance to listen to one of the top stars of the burgeoning Country music sub genre, Big Smo is a superstar. Before even releasing Kuntry Livin’ in June, 2014, Smo had over 20,000,000 YouTube views and had sold over 300,000 singles.
Released to coincide with the launch of his “Big Smo” series, Kuntry Livin’ debuted at Number 9 on the Country Albums Sales Chart and number 3 on the Rap Chart. The album has sold over 60,000 albums to date and the Unionville, TN native is currently touring in support of the album. His dedicated fan base even have an affectionate name, Kinfolke.
The sub genre of Rural Rap (we like this term rather than Country/Rap or Hick Hop) has been building his fan base through the years and is clearly supportive of everything they’ve given him,
“I’m overwhelmed with the positive response to this record from my Kinfoke. I truly feel blessed to hold a position on the charts among such successful country and rap artists,” said Smo. “Being out on the road supporting this record has shown me how much love and support my Kinfoke bring to the table and none of this would be possible without them!"
The opening track for Kuntry Livin’, “Workin’” has now been featured on SiriusXM’s “On The Horizon” program where it’s helped the music video (watch above) reach over 3 million YouTube Views and sell over 40,000 tracks.
