Album Review: Breelan Angel - Dirty Little Secrets

There's a world of potential to be found on "Dirty Little Secrets" and it finds the independent-minded artist competing on the same stage as Country's top artists.

Country Music’s long been home to strong, independent women like Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Pam Tillis, Martina McBride, Wynonna and Miranda Lambert so it’s no surprise that younger artists like Breelan Angel are willing to bare their souls in their music. Breelan Angel constantly does this via her debut album Dirty Little Secrets, an extremely well-written and produced 10 track album.

Lead off track “Walk Of Shame” and lead single “Halfway To Wasted” open the album and instantly showcase Angel’s songwriting perspective, a perspective where she’s calling out a man-stealing woman for her shameful ways while the latter song showcases Angel’s unwillingness to put up with her man’s crap any longer. This one is in the fine line of classic “I’m Done” types of songs which find a woman at a bar drinking her troubles away.

Breelan-Angel-cd-cover“It Ain’t Easy Lovin’ Me” finds Angel admitting to any faults she may have so that she can conquer them and chase her dreams while “Dirty Little Secrets” is a sweet fiddle-filled track which discusses the way that small town life often hides the ‘dirty little secrets’ that happen there. It’s a clever song and -- perhaps more-importantly -- it’s charmingly Country. Other stellar tracks include the self-explanatory “She Made Your Bed,” the moody “Can’t Tell A Heart” and the powerful ballad “Love Understands.”

Breelan Angel’s immense talent is fully-formed as a singer/songwriter and she fits right in with stars like Kellie Pickler, Miranda Lambert and Jana Kramer and Dirty Little Secrets is an album that deserves any and all attention it gets.
