Carlene Carter is heading out on tour in support of her new album Carter Girl, which was released this past April on Rounder Records.
The album brought about Carter's first Top 40 placing on the Billboard Country Albums chart since 1993, and has also had a strong presence on the Americana Music Chart. It has been embraced by critics as well as record buyers, with the Boston Globe suggesting that it “may be the best record [she] has ever made" andMOJO describing the project as “committed, personal and really quite perfect.”
The daughter of June Carter Cash and granddaughter of Maybelle Carter, Carlene Carter honors her Carter Family legacy on her new Don Was-produced set, which largely consists of songs from the Carter Family catalog. Acclaimed musicians such as Sam Bush and Jim Keltner make appearances on the album, while stars such as Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Vince Gill, and Elizabeth Cook contribute guest vocals.
Carter launched the new album with a performance at the iconic Station Inn venue in her Nashville hometown, followed by a series of Los Angeles dates at Amoeba Music Hollywood, Hotel Café, and an interview/performance at the Grammy Museum. The current list of dates can be viewed below.
