The 2013 playlist includes quick recaps of these 10 new additons to our list along with our link to our previous lists from years gone by. Included this year are songs from Wade Bowen, Aaron Watson, Trace Adkins, Angie Johnson, Maggie Rose, Blake Shelton and more.

We've previously featured a playlist that was updated year-over-year but this year we've collected new/recent songs that fit into this new 10 song playlist. Happy Memorial Day from Roughstock and we would like to send out a huge debt of gratitude and thanks to the citizens, soldiers and thier familes that have given their lives or sacrificed for the good of the USA.

Aaron Watson - "Raise Your Bottle"

Aaron Watson honors all that have served, even the ones never publicized for their bravery and honor, or even the ones who served for America but didn't actually serve in the military itself.

Angie Johnson - "Sing For You"

Inspired by service members who have PTSD or other afflictions from being overseas, "Sing For You" is also a reminder of the power that music has in allowing us to forget. Angie Johnson's a soldier herself so she knows the sentiment of this song first-hand.

Watch the brand new acoustic video performance of "Sing For You" and learn about how Angie came to write the song here.

Lee Brice - I Drive Your Truck"

The songwriters wrote this song based on hearing conversation where a father says he stayed close to his deceased war veteran

Trace Adkins - "If The Sun Comes Up"

Trace Adkins has performed songs like this before and perhaps no male vocalist is able to master the heartfelt sentiment and love needed for such a song than him. Written for the Act of Valor film, it's a beautiful ballad well worth listening to any time of the year and not just on Memorial Day Weekend.

Maggie Rose - "Better":

Originally written about the loss of a relationship, "Better" certainly can be understood as a song about trying to move on after the loss of a loved one due to war.

"For You" - Keith Urban:

Written for and inspired by the film Act of Valor, "For You" is the perfect power ballad about a man who promises to give his life not only for the band of brothers (and sisters) he fights with but for also his family back home so they can be free. Certainly a fitting song for Memorial Day.

"What It Takes" - Montgomery Gentry

Like Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry has often performed songs that honor the troops and the sacrifices they often give and while Memorial Day is about remembering those who lost their lives on the battle fields, it's also to remember anyone who served after they've left this earth, a reminder of this.

"I Was There" - Josh Turner

If you've ever lost someone to the throes of war, Josh Turner's song "I Was There" is likely to going to be a comforting ballad to listen to. It's comforting to hear such a singer sing a song of faith and redemption and the love of God.

"If We Ever Make It Home" - Wade Bowen

Heartfelt, and honest, "If We Ever Make It Home" is about the comfort that the hope of peace and heaven.

"Home" - Blake Shelton

Yes, it's easy to see this clearly as a guy longing for home while away, but it could also be a song about missing the ones who have passed away.

"Semper Fi" - Trace Adkins

A sweet heartfelt song honoring the Marines who gave/give everything for us to 'sleep in our bed instead of a foxhole.'  It's from the Proud To Be Here album.
